Study – PCOS Registry (NU IRB # 8096)

The purpose of this study is to find genes that cause PCOS. Understanding the genes that cause PCOS could lead to new treatments for the disorder. Further, this information may result in methods to predict and prevent PCOS.

  • A short (about 30 minute) visit to Northwestern Memorial Hospital or to a laboratory near your home for blood testing.
  • Completing a brief questionnaire about your medical history.

Women who are eligible to participate meet the following criteria:

  • Currently have 8 or fewer menstrual periods per year or have had infrequent menstrual periods in the past.
  • Are not using birth control pills, injections, patches, rings or hormone-releasing intrauterine devices (IUDs), unless PCOS has been previously diagnosed by hormonal testing.

    Chicago, IL 60611
  • You can also participate remotely in the study.
Northwestern will send you a kit to get your blood drawn at a local lab.
